Wedding Cheese Cake
Planning a wedding is no simple task with lots to think about, not least the cake!
Here at Brinkworth Dairy, we have a unique take on the wedding centrepiece. We've all heard the old saying, "something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue". Well we've taken that literally and can provide you with a cake that meets this "lucky" criteria, will have your guests talking for years to come and tastes DELICIOUS into the bargain.
We can provide a cheese for every tier of the cake with each cheese representing something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.
We would recommend allowing 80g per person, but cheese will last so you will be able to give left overs to your guests and so there's no need to worry about over ordering.
|The cake can be simply decorated with flowers, figs, fruit or vine leaves. |
|Something Old||Meant to represent the link with the bride’s own family and the past particularly mother or grandmother or even most distant relations. Old cheese is symbolic of continuity. |
This tier is made from Wiltshire Loaf - a very old cheese recipe, and the cheese is 4Kg, 20cm wide and 10cm high (for those of you not up with the metric system, that's about 8 inches wide and 4 inches high)
|Something New||New represents good luck and success and the bride’s hopes for a bright future in her new married life. Fresh young cheese conveys the message that the bride and groom are creating a new union that will endure forever.|
For this we recommend the Garlic and Pepper Soft Cheese - 150g, 8cm wide, 3cm high. Garlic and Pepper is a soft cheese so it is good on top of the cake or round the side
|Something Borrowed|| Borrowed reminds the bride that friends and family will be there for her on the special day and in the future when help is needed. "Borrowing" is especially important, since it has to come from a happily married woman, thereby lending the bride some of her own marital happiness to carry into the new marriage. |
The Royal Bassett Blue is perfect for this as its name is boorrowed from the nearby local town of Royal Wootton Bassett - it's 250g,10cm wide, 3cm high and softer so good near the top or round the side of the cake
|Something Blue||In ancient times Blue is the symbol of faithfulness, purity and loyalty. Blue cheese is eaten to denote, love, modesty and fidelity.|
The Royal Bassett Blue could fit here too, but we have gone for the Brinkworth Blue, a truly blue cheese. 24cm wide, 8cm high, 4kg
